Cozy Cabin Feels

It’s no secret that I love the outdoors; so when it comes to design, I definitely strive to bring nature in. This mood board depicts a cozy cabin feel. Think: traditional meets wilderness. I definitely get a feel for the Highlands with this, and if you’ve been then you will know what I mean!

Covering the Color Scheme

The overall color scheme for this warm neutrals. The furnishings are in the brown family, the rug brings in some oranges and black, and the art and decor bring in greens. In my eyes, green is the new neutral. A POP of color isn’t necessarily needed in this space— but the greens serve as that contrast in a subtle way.

Where are those greens, you’re wondering? Zoom in on the rug, notice the moss bowl on the entryway table, and check out the pillows and artwork. It may be more prominent than you think!

Old Meets Modern

Whenever I am decorating a space, I like to mix some traditional items with modern pieces. For this cabin scheme, you can find that in the following:

Older, Traditional — Can be achieved by using the entryways spindle table, the velvet feel sofa, the antler table lamp, and the oriental rug. The rug comes in multiple colors that would all work with this scheme!

Modern — Is accomplished through the Blue Ridge mountain artwork print, and the absolutely stunning coffee table. That coffee table has my heart! The top is solid wood and the sides are a woven style wood. It comes in two colors and the reviews look great on it!

Meeting in the middle between the generational styles are the retro leather accent chairs, and the Lee Jofa Althea pillows! These two items give you that dated woodland feel while being a new purchase.

Achieving the Cabin Feel

Warmth — The main way that this space gives you a cabin feel without actually being in a log cabin is through the overall warmth. It just makes you think of wood, and that’s what a cabin design focuses on!

Texture — Textures that make you think of the wilderness here are the leather seating, the velvety sofa, the decorative moss bowl, and the rustic character within that framed print on canvas.

I don’t know about you, but I could live with cabin vibes every day! This mood board creates that in a modern way, while still giving you those cabin characteristics. I hope you will be inspired to create this look in your own home!
