A Little Bit About Us

Starting a blog is something I have always wanted to do, but I have been nervous to take the leap! I’ve tried to get one running in the past, but now seems like a better season to share. If you’ve made it this far, you may know a bit about me but I will start from scratch…

My name is Madison and I am a daughter of the King who saved me, outdoor lover, artist, and wife to my favorite farmer. I graduated from Georgia Southern University and hold my Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. I grew up on a family farm and have always been happiest outdoors! It was nothing short of God’s plan for me to marry a man who spends his days outside, and that’s what I did. I met Rhett in college- we grew up minutes apart and never knew each other, even with our small town circles! Rhett holds a degree in Business Management but his passion has always been farming. He too grew up on a family farm and is a fourth generation row crop farmer.

Rhett and I both feel a calling on our life to share our love for God’s creation through what we do. I believe that God equips everyone with skills and talents to take into the world and share his image through it all.

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.”

1 Corinthians 12:4-6, ESV

Being creative is something that has just come up all of my life, and spending time outdoors has been the same way. I know that connecting with the truth of Christ is different for each person. For me, it’s in nature and creativity. I experience a beautiful sunset on the farm and see God’s goodness, I see every blank canvas and think of how God paints a new portrait for us every day. I am grateful for the visions He gifts me with and can only know that it’s all Him, not me.

The two of us stay pretty busy. Wedding season for me lines up with Rhett’s busy months, which go from March to November. It’s hard to explain the busy life of a farmer unless you’ve experienced it, but I love learning something new every day! Before I met Rhett, I knew about cattle and hay with my family, and enough about row crops to tell you what’s planted around home, but that was about it. Now I’m learning more of the details and have a true appreciation for those who bring food to our table every day. Did you know that every silk within a corn husk accounts for every kernel on the cob? So many fascinating facts…

Rhett and I got married in 2021. We each got a Field-bred English Cocker Spaniel in college and they are just the best! English cockers are bird dogs and we both love to hunt, so we felt the breed was a good fit for us. They are high energy so I try to let them run our fields most afternoons! Fun fact: my first “date” with Rhett was driving all day to pick up Libby – I’m sure you can guess which one of us came up with her cute name. 😉 We just celebrated Libby’s fifth birthday and I always love to think that Libby and I showed up in Rhett’s life on the same day.

I try to soak in the little things in life. Apart from artwork, I love to cook, hunt and fish, garden, and there’s always a DIY project up my sleeve. I am looking forward to this blog being the place where I share these activities outside of work. I don’t plan to stick a beautiful post on here on the same day every week, I’ll probably just share as the thoughts come along. We’re all human and social media perfection just isn’t the goal.

If I did nail down a “goal” for my blog, I’d say I want to share more about our lifestyle and connect every inch of it to the goodness of God. We are so blessed to do the things we love and that is not lost on me. I am so grateful that we are both in professions that point straight to God’s talent and grand design of the world, but most importantly point to how much He loves us.

But aren’t we all in a position, no matter the profession, to see His hand on every little thing? It’s hard at times, but that’s what were here for – we were made to share about His goodness! I’ll strive for this blog to be an outlet for me to do that.

“I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days, I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God”

I hope you will stick around and see what we’re up to. I hope you will share your fun projects and happenings with me, too! Let’s build a positive community and talk it all out.

Signing off, Madison
